Chinese Medicine and Post natal Care

Postnatal Acupuncture
Postnatal Support

Chinese Medicine is not only concerned with what it takes to become and carry a healthy pregnancy, it also recognises the huge demand pregnancy and birth places on the mother with physical and mentally. In Ancient China new mothers were kept in bed for three months to ensure full recovery. From a TCM perspective, we encourage you to get as much rest as possible immediately after the birth of your baby. Staying close to home for as long as 30 days is optimal. This is to avoid infection and getting sick which is quite common because the immune system is quite weak after giving birth, especially if the birth has been traumatic or with complications. Chinese Medicine has effective treatment protocols for a whole range of post natal complaints such as;

  • fatigue
  • mastitis
  • lactation issues
  • abdominal cramping
  • post natal depression
  • constipation
  • night sweats
  • uterine bleeding
  • shoulder and back pain
  • colds or infections
